What do these results mean?
There are three separate jobs on the AI side: training the model, reading the page live while composing an answer, and fetching a URL when a user asks about it. Each uses different clients, so you can block one and stay open to another.
The block is usually not deliberate. An agency turns off GPTBot so “AI won't steal our content”, and with the same decision closes the live search layer of ChatGPT — so the company never comes up when a customer asks.
Access is only the first condition. A page an engine can reach but where it finds no structured text to read will not show up in answers either. That is exactly what NameInAI measures: what the engines say when your name is asked.
